Americans United for Separation of Church and State are demanding that a 55 foot cross in Frankenmuth, Michigan be removed claiming it violates the Constitution. This is a lie.
According to historian David Barton, to interpret the Constitution correctly it must be done in light of the principles found in the Declaration – which refers to God four times. He says both documents go together ‘like a hand in glove.’
This is as good a time as any to point out the references there, which Barton calls our “national charter.” They are: The Laws of Nature and of nature’s God, Creator, Supreme Judge of the World and Divine Providence.
Our enemy, those who want to kick God out, are attempting to remove our ‘only firm basis of national defense’ (1). When our founders ended the Declaration they concluded with the words; “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence…”
They were saying God Almighty was the real shield of the United States, and has been for decades. That is, until we permitted the likes of the ACLU and United groups to hang around long enough to sink their talons into our way of life.
They have used our courts (and judges) to twist the real meaning of our Bill of Rights, and then threaten to take our tax dollars if we fail to capitulate to their demands. Their real intent is to remove God’s authority from our land, substituting it for human rule. Think about this, if our rights originate from a Creator, then once His influence has been removed government becomes the giver and taker of rights, so to speak. And that is what is behind this movement – something that will lead to despotism.
Any general will tell you that winning a war involves a test of wills and perserverance. We are engaged in one where our foe (and make no mistake, they are an adversary), wants to remove all mention of God, the God of the Bible, from American culture.
Throughout scripture, the Israelis were forced to decide who they would follow. It happened in Moses’ day (Exodus 32:26); in Joshua’s time (Joshua 24:14-15); Elijah’s (1 Kings 18:21) and was something Christ demanded if one chose to follow Him (Matthew 22:37 and Colossians 1:18). This generation doesn’t get a pass. We have to make a decision, too – something that should have been done years ago.
That’s why we’re experiencing all the economic and political turmoil today – because we’ve left the road the founders paved for us.
Whenever a ‘separation’ issue arises follow Jefferson’s advice and go back to the time when the nation was founded and read the writings of the founders. They, like the following quote from Washington, will tell you how they really felt.
Its time to say, ‘no more!’
Writer strongly recommends you read the book by David Barton entitled; The Myth of Separation. Check out his Wallbuilders website, too.

Thanks, great Washington quote! Can’t wait to get to heaven and thank our founders (of course not my first priority, but one of them)!
Yeah the atheists are giving Frankenmuth a hard time on ALL of their crosses. Not sure I know about a 55 foot cross, but Frankenmuth’s 6 foot Bicentennial Cross that sits across from Bronner’s is under fire, and also their city shield because it has a cross on it. Can you believe it! Ole slew foot just can’t stand the cross! Makes me love it all the more!
