“By removing the Bible from schools we would be wasting so much time and money in punishing criminals and so little pains to prevent crime. Take the Bible out of our schools and there would be an explosion in crime.” Dr. Benjamin Rush, Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Founded American Sunday Schools and the nation’s first Bible Society. (1)
We’ve been warned, but didn’t listen. I quit watching the news after a mass shooting occurs. Before bodies are removed and the scene has been processed we get bombarded with “trolls tweeting” and politicians, like Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fla), rushing to get in front of a camera. It always turns political.
Enough of candlelight vigils and makeshift memorials. How will this prevent the next shooting? Answer; It won’t.
We heard the predictable calls by gun grabbers like Nelson while they deliberately fail to place blame where it lies – with the person responsible.
We went about our business when the court handed down such ridiculous opinions like the one in Stone v. Graham, 449 U.S. 39 (1980), a Kentucky case, where the court “ordered” the removal of the Ten Commandments from schools: If the posted copies of the Ten Commandments are to have any effect at all, it will be to induce the schoolchildren to read, meditate upon, perhaps to venerate and obey, the Commandments. However desirable this might be as a matter of private devotion, it is not a permissible state objective under the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.” (2)
Wow, such wisdom from these vestal virgins.
In wanting to rid the nation of slavery Virginia’s George Mason warned; “Every master of slaves is born a petty tyrant. They bring the judgment of heaven on a Country. As nations can not be rewarded or punished in the next world they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes & effects providence punishes national sins, by national calamities.” (3)
Abortion is bringing judgment on America. If life isn’t safe inside the mother, it’s not going to be on the street. Senator Nelson and others are ready to take your gun, but they have no problem voting for late term abortions.
Some of trolls ask where God was in all of this.
He’s here, He hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s us, speaking as a country, who left Him. He’s ready to step in when asked, but won’t go where He’s not invited.
And when that happens we lose His protection. (See Psalm 127:1).
“This is what Dr. Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote before the Nazis hanged him naked with piano wire in 1945:
“The church must confess that she has witnessed the lawless application of brutal force, the physical and spiritual suffering of countless innocent people, oppression, hatred, and murder, and that she has not raised her voice on behalf of the victims and has not found ways to hasten to their aid. She is guilty of the deaths of the weakest and most defenseless brothers of Jesus Christ…The church must confess that she has desired security, peace, and quiet, possessions and honor, to which she has no right…She has not borne witness to the truth of God…By her own silence she has rendered herself guilty because of her unwillingness to suffer for what she knows to be right.”
Although history validates the weaknesses of world leaders and the complicity of many Christians during the Nazi era, we must look carefully at ourselves before we criticize them too harshly. Almost 60 million American babies have been killed by abortionists since 1973, to which many of our church leaders remained passive. I agree with Bonhoeffer’s final assessment, “By her own silence she has rendered herself guilty because of her unwillingness to suffer for what she knows is right.”
I assure you that Family Talk is willing to suffer for what we know is right. We will stand firm and speak the truth in love, even though it brings ridicule and disdain. Our purpose is not to be popular, but to defend righteousness and biblical truth.
Will you stand with us? Will you help us oppose the killing of babies, the redefinition of marriage, the manipulation of young minds, and the ever increasing wickedness of today’s entertainment industry? When we speak with one voice and pray fervently to the one true living God, we will be heard. Let’s commit ourselves to this righteous cause, even though evil surrounds us. We are called to be faithful; the outcome belongs to the Lord.
May the God of our fathers help us persevere in these challenging days. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).” (4)
We need a spirit of repentence.

Another Carpetbagger – Those of you born before 1960 and who lived in Michigan remember when George Romney was our Governor. I shook his hand during a parade when I was a kid and recall how gracious he was. Well, now his son Mitt is at it again, running for senator in Utah.
Romney fits the definition of a carpetbagger; “a political candidate who seeks election in an area where they have no local connections.”
“He was raised in Michigan, was governor of Massachusetts, was defeated by Obama and now running for the Senate in Utah.” (1)
Romney had Obama against the ropes during his presidential debate, but let him get away. I think he’s a decent man and would have been a much better president than Brother Barry, but he couldn’t pull it off for some reason.
The real issue is that we have another career politician throwing himself into the mix – more likely to make life miserable for President Donald Trump.
I’m weary of establishment politicians.
