During last month’s prayer meeting at my church, following the carnage in Las Vegas, our pastor directed us to the Book of Nehemiah for the remedy during a national crisis.
As you know, the Israeli’s were slaves under Persia (modern-day Iran) while Jerusalem was in ruins. Nehemiah, after hearing how bad things were back home wept, mourned, fasted and prayed before the God of Heaven (Nehemiah 1:4).
After five months of intense prayer and fasting, he approached Artaxerxes asking for permission to go to Jerusalem and repair the walls. He got approval and completed the task in record time (fifty-two days), but was met with stiff resistance along the way.
I did my own reading and found that Christians need to realize how serious, but winnable, our situation is.
The Left, Communists if you will, along with establishment politicians have intensified their attacks and are out to destroy us.
Mark Levin tells us that “In the last few weeks the Left has ruined the NFL, late night TV, and the Boy Scouts. In the last few years they’ve severely damaged campus free speech and academic freedom, the private health care market, military readiness, and local law enforcement. Their judges have seized control over immigration, aspects of national security, and marriage. Meanwhile, the Left is increasingly violent (Antifa, Black Lives Matter, etc.) and the media are increasingly brazen in their leftist propagandizing and cheerleading.
Levin goes on to say that “In 2016, 118 law enforcement officers died in line of duty compared to 86 the year before. In addition, another 57,000 officers were assaulted in the line of duty and 16,000 of those sustained injuries. (1)
I believe protests across the nation are staged in order to divide the nation even further.
For example, look what happened at Eastern Michigan University recently.
After racist graffiti was found scrawled on buildings, “students marched in the streets in protest for hours, eventually ending up at the home of EMU president James Smith. After an EMU football game several days later, a group of students stormed the field and raised their fists in a display of “black power.” (2)
However, during their investigation coppers found that the culprit was a black guy, Eddie Curlin. Oops.
As we approach the anniversary of the date of last year’s election — November 8th, 2016 — it is clear that the enemy is now stirred up and has galvanized their people to come against the one that the American people legally chose to serve as the President of the United States of America: Donald J. Trump.
We have news, however, that the protestors are not going to wait until November 8th to begin marching, but instead they have now planned to launch these protests all across America, beginning on Saturday, November 4th. (3)
Again, Nehemiah offers us some wonderful lessons.
When he began his project his enemies immediately went on the attack – namely three stooges by the name of Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem.
(In using the terms “stooges” I have insulted the fine trio of Howard, Fine and Howard and for that I offer my sincere apologies).
The Biblical record in Nehemiah 2:19 says “they ridiculed and laughed us to scorn” because “they despised us.”
Many of our globalist politicians feel the same toward us.
However, Nehemiah appealed to the “nobler instincts and patriotism” of the people in two verses and it was successful. (4)
“You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision (Nehemiah 2:15).”
“And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes (Nehemiah 4:14).”
Take another look at the picture of the wall being re-constructed.
Notice the guy kneeling with the trowel also has a sword on his side. Other’s are standing watch with weapons at the ready.
They didn’t go looking for trouble, but were prepared for anything that might come their way.
Also, Nehemiah strategically posted the builders close to their families just in case they had to unholster their “hoglegs” and fight.
It’s a lot easier for soldiers to fight when they know things are in order back home. In this case, Nehemiah kept the fighters near their loved ones.
What a great leader!
Nehemiah appealed to their patriotism, encouraging them to fight for their nation (“your brothers”) and families. Along with that, to defend their property rights (your homes) – which is one of the essential pieces of individual liberty.
The “Second Civil War” has started in Dallas, Baton Rouge, Charlottesville, Berkley, New York City, Baltimore and other places. And I believe they were all staged by the Communists.
Nehemiah is appealing to our sense of patriotism and for us to pay attention to things happening around us.
After all, things like this were written for our example.

Good to hear other men of honor discerning what Is going on, correctly putting it into perspective, praying and turning towards God for answers.
All of us need to speak up more, in love.
