It’s tough enough to win a war or live life with God in it, let alone going through it without Him.
We may soon find out how treacherous things will become, at least on a national scale.
The Declaration ends “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence,” reminding me of Psalm 127:1; “unless the Lord watches the city the watchman labors in vain.”
Through horrendous Supreme Court decisions issued over the years we’ve told the Lord we can do without His protective shield that has covered us for generations.
While celebrating the 4th I sensed the nation had plunged under a thick darkness as we move further and further away from the Lord. You can call it a spiritual oppression, but something is different.
We’re no longer the nation founded “on the self-evident, God-given rights and ideals expressed in the Declaration.” (1)
“It’s as if a “demonic spirit has engulfed our nation and is strangling its good sense” (2) both politically and spiritually, as we’ drift further and further away from our only “firm line of Defense”. (3)
Years ago President Obama declared America was not a Christian nation, but we know he’s an “ideologue with the power of the presidency” behind him. (4)
However, George Washington reminds us who we are and where our Real hope lies:
His first order to the troops on July 9, 1776 was that “every officer and man will endeavor so as to live and act as becomes a Christian soldier, defending the dearest rights and liberties of his country.”
On May 2, 1778 he issued this order to them; “To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”
May 10, 1789: “If I could have entertained the slightest apprehension that the Constitution framed by the Convention, where I had the honor to preside, might possibly endanger the religious rights of any ecclesiastical society, certainly I would never have placed my signature on it.” (5)
On June 8, 1783 he resigned his command and exhorted the nation; “without an humble imitation of the Divine Author of our blessed religion…we can never hope to be a happy nation.”
So, are we a happy nation today? Oh sure, you might be content with your personal situation, but you also may be among the many who are oblivious to what’s about to swallow you up.
Can you say this with conviction while a small group of elitists are destroying what exists?
If you refuse to conform you’ll be targeted.
If you come out against illegal immigration like Donald Trump, they’ll gang up on you.
If you hoist the Confederate flag at one of your concerts as Kid Rock has done in the past, they’ll threaten you. (6)
If you stand for traditional marriage like Aaron and Melissa Klein, the Left will tell you to ‘shut up’, ‘pay up’ or they’ll destroy you for standing for your beliefs.
If they don’t like a grand jury’s finding they’ll keep working until they get the result they want, Or they’ll the burn city down. (7)
This is what tyranny looks like and they won’t stop until they crush our freedom to worship the Lord.
The motto of the American Revolution was “No king but King Jesus.”
The battle is a spiritual and according to Tony Perkins faith based institutions, our colleges and universities, are the next ones in their sights.
Our forefathers refused to capitulate and wouldn’t settle for anything less than liberty and self-government.
Patrick Henry didn’t say “Give me liberty, but if not, God is in control.” He put it all on the line like many others did.
Contrary to what this generation has been taught, God gave us liberty and He left it up to us to preserve it and as Peter Marshall and David Manuel wrote, we’re to preserve it “with our life’s blood if necessary.”
We need to push back, “stand against the tide” and right the wrong for the next generation. (8)
