Many Americans are concerned with numbers. Unemployment is over 8%, the debt is reaching 16 trillion, and gas, at least in my corner of the world, costs more than four bucks a gallon.
Here’s another number to keep in mind as the 2012 election approaches – 2,106 (as of this writing).
That’s the number of American troops killed in Afghanistan since 2001. From the time the war started until George Bush left office, 630 were killed in action.
Since Obama became president 1,476 have died. However, you won’t hear a peep from mainstream media because they’re too busy laying cover fire for his re-election bid.
A number of our troops have been killed recently by people they were supposedly training, people dressed as Afghan soldiers or policemen. Some have been slain while on their fifth, sixth or seventh deployment.
While our nation is at war the interest of our country, and those fighting for it, should be paramount. We should concentrate on destroying the enemy, not ‘winning the hearts’ of the Afghan people.
I believe President Obama placed the world in jeopardy by not leaving a significant number of troops in Iraq, while our standing in the world has deteriorated immensely on his watch. His state department is responsible for replacing dictators (albeit bad guys who maybe needed killing), with those from the Muslim Brotherhood – something that may yet come back to bite us.
Every life lost in Afghanistan is precious, but some things can be done about it. First, if Americans are to train the Afghan’s they (the Afghan’s), should be issued inert training weapons called “The Red Gun,” along with “converted weapons” that discharge a “non-lethal marking cartridge”. (1) Secondly, contact your congressional representative, demanding they unleash our troops to fight this war in a swift and aggressive manner, so they can get on with their lives. Sending these people on multiple deployments is a crime, and does no good for them, their families or the nation.
Finally, (if it applies to your representative, and there is evidence out there), tell them to stop appeasing radical Muslims who want to advance sharia law across the globe.
We have an excellent military, led by fine commanders, that has done a fantastic job over the last decade. However, as General “Black Jack” Pershing said; “A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while on the contrary an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops.”
Something to keep in mind for November.
(1) The converted weapons and non-lethal marking cartridges are manufactured by General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Canada Inc (GT-OTS Canada).

I will write to my congressman and congresswomen. This is, again, an eye opener.

WOW. I had no idea that the numbers were this off the charts.
Where are the war protesters that were glued to President Bush??
Strangely – s-i-l-e-n-t.
