Recently I expressed concern to some people about our nation’s condition and a pastor in the group ended the conversation by saying; “We serve a sovereign God.”
Well, God was on the throne on June 6, 1944 when American, British and Canadian forces stormed the beaches of Normandy and saved the world. Yet, people had to fight.
They ‘pushed Hitler’s goose-stepping legions’ out of France because, according to Winston Churchill, “the survival of Christian civilization” was at stake. (1)
These soldiers fought valiantly to rid the world of a tyrant and insure that future American generations (that’s you) would live freely. Seventy years later America not only faces enemies abroad, but at home. Our government is becoming increasingly lawless and hostile to the citizens they should be serving.
They want to dictate how much of our earnings we can keep, where we can live, what to eat, what to drive, what medical care we’ll receive and what religious beliefs are acceptable.
We have a president who cares nothing for American heritage, the rule of law, the Constitution, or the God that has protected for us for over 400 years. While there are good men serving in the military, there are no generals at the helm like ‘Ike’ or Patton today.
There’s no face of Christianity, either. Oh, I know there are wonderful, capable men in the pulpits, but there are no Whitfield’s, Finney’s, Cartwright’s, Marshall’s or Falwell’s – men who would call out a president for such lawless conduct. I fear there are none, or at best, they’re hiding.
Presently, there’s a leadership void in the country starting in the White House, and as the government grows your “circle of liberty” gets smaller. (2)
A big factor is because Christian’s have retreated. Many are indifferent to the sacrifice these men made and won’t take time to educate themselves or pray for the things affecting us. Many pastors are too timid to lay the real issues out each Sunday and provide God’s point of view. I surmise they’re fearful they’ll see a significant drop in attendance and donations, or get a visit from the IRS.
America was known as “a city on a Hill”, a beacon of light to the rest of the world. However, over the last six years because of neglect and laziness, we’ve allowed Obama and a number of politicians with Marxist leanings to turn it into a turd pile.
Churchill also said, “But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age, made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.” (3)
This dark age is on the horizon, and if we don’t get busy asking God to help us turn things around, we’ll find ourselves in the abyss sooner than we think.
The men who fought on this day so many years ago didn’t die for this, and deserve better.
May God forgive us for taking liberty and their sacrifice so lightly.

My beloved father was one of the first to land on Omaha that day <3 He made it off the beach without being wounded…only to be hit three separate times later; the last left him paralyzed for 6 months. I am grateful he did not live to see this….it would have been the death of him.
I've only got one disagreement with you here, dear brother:
"Presently, there’s a leadership void in the country starting in the White House, and as the government grows your “circle of liberty” gets smaller." (2) In my view, that void began in pulpits like the one whom you mentioned at the outset here.
Perhaps that Pastor could use a copy of BONHOEFFER for father's day??

None of our American heroes fought for the lack of liberties and start of tyranny we see today. I pray every day that God will raise up one or two (that’s all it will take) courageous men of God who are willing to lead in the battle to retake our country. And, yes, we all receive blame for taking liberty and the sacrifice of our heroes so lightly. May God’s words of 2 Chronicles 7:14 fall upon the hearts of backslidden Christians, plus those of us who fail to do all within the power given us
by God to do our part.
